Murmur-y-Don sleeps seven, in three double bedrooms and one single bedroom. All bedrooms have a washhandbasin. Have a closer look at the bedrooms here.
There is a bathroom upstairs, with the huge original 1907 cast-iron bath, and a shower room downstairs with a modern Aqualisa rainwater shower. Inspect them.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a Firebird (like an Aga, but better and much more flexible) an electric oven, a microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, Dolce Gusto espresso machine and a walk-in larder.
There is free unlimited fibre-optic wi-fi broadband. At 37 Mbps it is not quite as fast as fibre-optic elsewhere in the country, but it’s adequate. Because the walls of the house are three feet thick, its range is limited — it won’t work in the kitchen, for example — but our wi-fi extender has largely solved that. The drawing room is L-shaped and has an HD TV with a DVD player. Off the drawing room is the Round Window, a circular room to take advantage of the spectacular views. It has 108 panes of glass, each one hand curved so the horizon isn’t refracted. Think of a pencil in a glass of water. In 2014 replacement panes cost £60 each!
Pets are welcome. Please keep dogs off the furniture and definitely off the beds. Dog owners are requested to hoover every day.
